Disaster Prevention Safe City

After experiencing a catastrophic calamity during the Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995, Hyogo-Kobe drafted an advanced disaster prevention safe city plan. The phoenix Disaster Prevention System” in Hyogo Prefecture is currently in operation, and the "Countermeasures Against Calamity Center,” the first government building designed to create disaster countermeasures in a self-governing body, was completed in 2000. A People and Disaster Prevention Future Center” opened in 2003. These have all become bases of international disaster support, focusing on disaster prevention research, specialist training in information transmission, disaster restoration, and dispatch.
